Geraldton organisations are joining forces from 25 November to 10 December to support 16 Days in WA, a statewide campaign calling on all Western Australians to help end family, domestic and sexual violence.

The campaign runs from the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women (25 November) to Human Rights Day (10 December) and aims to raise awareness, inspire action, and highlight the individuals, groups, and organisations working to prevent violence against women in our community.

Many of Geraldton’s events have been organised by groups that have signed the Community, Respect & Equality (CRE) Agreement, a local initiative encouraging workplaces, organisations, and community groups to actively promote respect, equality, and inclusion, addressing the drivers of family violence through primary prevention. Together, these organisations are offering a wide range of activities that give everyone a chance to get involved and make a difference.

Isabel Ross, Desert Blue Connect’s Primary Prevention Coordinator, said the collaboration shows Geraldton’s strong commitment to creating a safer community.

“It’s inspiring to see so many local organisations working together for the 16 Days in WA. Prevention is everyone’s responsibility, and these events show just how powerful our community can be when we come together.”

“By participating, Geraldton is sending a clear message that violence against women is not acceptable here.”

“We’re encouraging everyone to get involved, attend an event, wear orange, start a conversation with your kids about respect, or call out harmful attitudes when you see them. Every action makes a difference.”
