Our Watch has been established to drive nationwide change in the culture, behaviours and power imbalances that lead to violence against women and their children.

Change The Story

Australia has a choice. We can change the story that currently sees a woman murdered every week by a current or former partner. We can choose a future where women and their children live free from violence.

The Conversation Guide

Most Australians recognise that violence against women is an issue. However, as a community, we excuse or minimise the attitudes and behaviours in young people that can lead to violence.

By doing this we are allowing those attitudes and behaviours to become a normal part of growing up. Without realising it, we are making gender inequality and disrespectful behaviour acceptable.

Violence against women and their children affects everybody.

It impacts on the health, well-being and safety of a significant proportion of Australians throughout all states and territories and places an enormous burden on the nation’s economy across family and community services, health and hospitals, income-support, and criminal justice systems.

Converge International understands that people face many
challenges in their lives and that, sometimes, these require
specialised support.

We believe the counsellors providing this support should be specialists with specific social or cultural
experience, knowledge and understanding.
