The City of Greater Geraldton was nationally recognised for its commitment to gender equality and the prevention of violence against women and children in 2024. As part of the Community Respect Equality (CRE) initiative led by Desert Blue Connect, the City delivers the “Speaking Out Against Disrespect” training to foster a culture of safety, respect, and inclusion.
Since 2023, over 334 staff have completed the training which is now embedded in the organisation’s key services inductions. Delivered by the Community Development Team and strongly supported by senior management, the program uses real-life scenarios to empower staff to challenge disrespectful behaviour. The City continues to deliver this impactful training, setting a strong example for others.
