This project was developed to showcase and celebrate some of Geraldton’s local matriarchs\, sharing their moving stories. Learn more about women whose strength\, wisdom\, and leadership have helped shape families and communities across our region. \nThe initiative also marked the 10th Anniversary of the Ochre Ribbon Week Campaign\, first established by Aboriginal Family Legal Services in 2015 to raise awareness of the impacts of family and domestic violence on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. SUMMARY:DV-Alert First Nations Foundations Workshop
DESCRIPTION:For Frontline Workers \nAbout 2-Day Foundations workshop\nThis workshop provides practical knowledge and skills in implementing the Recognise\, Respond and Refer Model © in a frontline worker context. \nThis workshop is for frontline workers to learn how to recognise the signs of family violence\, respond appropriately\, and refer to support services relevant to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. It covers the nature and scope\, patterns and impacts of family violence\, what to consider for diverse groups\, communication skills\, safety planning\, referral pathways and more. \nThis is an accredited 2-day course which includes assessment activities. After successful completion of the assessments you will achieve a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment for the unit of competency CHCDFV001 Recognise and respond appropriately to domestic and family violence. \nCost\nIt is free for frontline workers. Financial support is also offered for staff backfill for attendance of the 2-Day Foundations workshops and 1-day focused workshops\, and help with travel and accommodation is available in some cases. \nContact us\nFor further enquiries contact: training.dvalert@lifeline.org.au
